When I visited Avila Beach this weekend for photos, I noticed erosion in the Avila beach rocks. These rocks are very large and cliff-like. There is lots of rock and and sediment at the bottom of the large rocks, a result or erosion from the waves constantly hitting the big rocks. A few parts of the rocks at the bottom have been smoothed out, also a result of waves crashing on top of them and constantly getting hit with sand, pebbles, etc that are smoothing them out. This has probably been going on for a long time, waves are always crashing o these rocks especially when there is a high tide.
